Head coach Justine Lombardi, previously an assistant at Quinnipiac University, was appointed head coach of the college’s program last August.
She voiced her excitement on the inaugural season in a release from the athletic program.
“Not having a soccer season this past year for me, has made it even more exciting to get started” she said. “I can’t put it into words how excited we are and the ladies are really excited too.”
The Terriers will open on Thursday, August 22 in their first ever women’s soccer home game, facing Lafayette College at their Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 5 home. Their first road game will follow six days later as they’ll visit Rider University in New Jersey.
The Terriers will play five of their first seven games of the season on the road, including four consecutive away games in September, which will lead them to conference play, which kicks off on September 22 against Wagner College.
The Brooklyn based club is scheduled to end their first regular season on November 3, when they’ll take on Saint Francis University of Pennsylvania, which will lead into the North East conference playoffs, beginning on November 8, if they qualify.
“The players are young, and they’re good at recovering. I hope we are in a good position at the end of the season, where it comes down to those two games,” Lombardi added. “It’ll be a nice and long trip for us. We’ll make it a great weekend.”
