The artist, who is known as one of the most prominent songwriters in the rock era, will take the stage on Thursday, June 30, at 7:30 p.m. to perform songs from his newest studio album “Stranger to Stranger” and surely some classics from his extensive discography.
Simon is best known for his collaboration with Forest Hills native Art Garfunkel, as the folk rock duo Simon & Garfunkel. Together, they quickly rose to fame in the 1960s.
Several of their hits, including “Sound of Silence,” “Mrs. Robinson,” “Cecilia,” and “Still Crazy After All These Years” gained popularity and reached number one on the singles charts. Simon & Garfunkel last performed together in Forest Hills in 1970 at the same stadium.
The June performance at Forest Hills Stadium will wrap Simon’s 31-show North American spring/summer tour, which will begin at the Jazz Fest in New Orleans and stop in places such as Texas, Iowa, Oregon, Missouri, California and Canada.
Simon is one of three acts announced to perform at the historic concert venue this summer. Folk band Mumford and Sons will be performing to two sold-out shows on June 16 and 17, while the English electronic music duo Disclosure will perform on June 18.
Tickets range from $54.50 to $515 for Simon’s performance. General tickets will be open to the public on Saturday, February 27, at 10 a.m.
There are also several ticket packages currently on sale that will give fans a VIP experience. For instance, at $395 the Gold Hot Seat package includes one premium reserved Price Level 1 ticket, a merchandise item and a collectible laminate to remember your evening.
There is also the cheaper Silver Hot Seat package option which includes everything that the Gold Hot Seat package consists of, except you will be seated at a Price Level 2 seat.
