Upon strolling down 5th Avenue in Park Slope this weekend, we were in high hopes of overflowing sale racks filled with half off winter merchandise waiting to be rescued. With spring just right out of our reach, there was no shortage of fashionable deals ‘in the slope’.

Sniffing out great sale items is an art you can master by coordinating your wardrobe needs with the end of the season steals. For example, when you figure out which winter boots can’t possibly make it to the next year, holding out until the end of the season to purchase new ones will allow to you reap the benefits of buying them for full price at the beginning of the season the following year. When scouring the racks for deals, follow these sale rack rules before walking out with your ‘final sale’ items:

Make sure to check over sale items for any possible damages or imperfections.

Try on sale items before purchasing as sizing may be inconsistent.

Make sure all closures are functioning (no missing buttons or broken zippers).
