The thrill of the circus is coming to homes all over the city, thanks to artists, performers and coaches from The Muse Brooklyn and ABCirque troupe.

To help New Yorkers stay physically and mentally healthy as they practice social distancing, The Muse has launched online classes for kids and families, as well as for adults.

“We want New York and the entire globe to stay connected and stay healthy now more than ever,” read a statement

“These classes are infused with the cheer and joyful spirit of The Muse Brooklyn. Though we are distant, not all connections need to be lost. We are all in this together.”

Headquartered in Bushwick, The Muse is known as a community for creatives. Artists from all over the world call the space home, coming together to celebrate the circus in all its forms: from art to fitness to entertainment.

ABCirque is The Muse’s resident performance troupe, which is centered in cirque-inspired productions, techniques, and other immersive experiences.

Virtual classes like Family Acro, taught by Muse founder Angela Buccinni Butch and her partner, play worker and children’s rights activist Yoni Kallai, and Theater Games for Kids are geared to help families share physical fitness through a course built on trust and communication.

In addition, Kallai has started a parent support group that aims to foster a safe space for sharing the challenges being experienced in the current moment, as well as a sounding board for ideas on how to stay physically and mentally fit during the crisis.

The Muse is also hosting a variety of live-streamed adaptive workouts that can be done in an apartment. Adult classes include flexibility and strength courses by some of the city’s highest level cirque artists, as well as an introduction to breakdancing.

Courses are all donation based, with proceeds going to support the teachers and administrative team at The Muse.

A complete schedule of classes and Zoom links is available at Inquiries regarding virtual private lessons and performances can be made at
